Dining Hall
In 2025, GSBC served over 500 children in our day and overnight camps, 400 people at our family camps, and more than 100 individuals in our RV park, while also hosting many others through community rentals and school partnerships. These numbers reflect the growing demand for what GSBC provides. Yet with growth has come limitation. Our current dining hall is too small, forcing families and campers to eat outside due to space restrictions.
We have also struggled with a shortage of washrooms, sleeping accommodations, and office space. These limitations have created waiting lists each year, turning away children and families simply because we lack the capacity to serve them. The Dining Hall Project directly addresses these challenges. The new facility will provide adequate dining space, modernized kitchen facilities, and additional washrooms. The new dining hall complex will be far more than just a place to eat; it will serve as a multi-use facility, enabling us to host school groups, retreats, and community events throughout all four seasons. This expansion will strengthen our reach into the surrounding communities, providing opportunities not just in summer but also in fall, winter, and spring. The impact will be significant, allowing GSBC to serve children, families, and schools in new ways while ensuring our mission remains sustainable for generations to come.

Our current dining hall is an original structure and has served its purpose well for many years, however, camp attendance has expanded far beyond the capacity it can accommodate. The existing building is not just too small for seating, but we have exceeded our kitchen and food storage needs as well. The new dining facility will solve the issues we have with our current dining hall and also provide a number of other ministry benefits such as:
1) Better central location to provide instant visibility from the highway and better overall camp safety.
2) Full bathroom facility including showers and an accessible washroom inside the building to offset the load of our main washroom.
3) Offices are the first thing you see coming into camp allowing easier access and year round camp accessibility.
4) Expanded and improved program capabilities as we repurpose the old dining hall into a larger craft room, rec room, larger canteen and secondary kitchen.
5) Increased space in the chapel as we relocate craft room and canteen.
An ongoing problem at camp, albeit a good one, is lack of space for campers and staff. This dining facility is a major next step toward addressing that issue.
Construction on the dining hall has officially started, with an anticipated end date of Spring 2026. Fundraising in these next six months will ensure that we are able to complete our project in time for next year's camping season. If you wish to hear more about this project or see progress updates, I invite you to contact GSBC. Together we can build a facility that will serve hundreds of children and families for decades to come.
